CSE Sensory Room
With help from the AEIO and You, Clarks Summit Elementary now has a therapeutic Sensory Room comprised of different materials allowing students with learning differences to explore their senses and enhances their overall school experience.
The room is utilized by students with learning differences and special needs including the Autistic Support and Life Skills classes. Access to the room is incorporated into the daily curriculum. The room offers a “Sensory Break” that allows students to decompress/regroup becoming more receptive to learning, making instruction more beneficial, preventing aggressive behaviors and increasing independence.
Students may use different equipment such as the bubbling light corner, ball pit, comforting swing, deep pressure pea pod, vibrating beanbag love bug or the memory foam mats while listening to gentle soothing music to calm and refocus themselves.
